The Regulations

In implementation of Directive (EU) 2019/1937, Italy issued Legislative Decree no. 24 of 10 March 2023 concerning “the protection of persons who report breaches of Union law and laying down provisions on the protection of persons who report breaches of national laws”.

Whistleblowing is the term used to describe the act of reporting unlawful, irregular or unethical conduct within an organisation. The person making the report is commonly known as a "whistleblower".

Whistleblowing is therefore a crucial mechanism for maintaining integrity and lawfulness within organisations, providing a secure channel through which people can raise concerns about unlawful conduct.

EU Directive 2019/1937

The European Directive – the Whistleblowing Directive – is intended to protect persons who report breaches of Union law and lays down provisions on the protection of persons who report breaches of national laws.
